1. Tell me about fetishfornails and how you got started? 

I've been doing nails since I was 19. I was having a hard time finding a job and found nail art intriguing so I decided to go to school for it. Fetishfornails was born.

2. What inspires your creativity?  

I create designs based on the individual.  I'm inspired the energy of my clients. I work with a lot of crystals,  paint, foils and create designs that scream "I'm different".

3. Why are people surprised that you're a African American nail tech? 

Simply because it's a rare thing. There aren't many African American nail techs doing 3D nail art on my level.  

4. Who are your customers? 

My customers are divas who want their nails to look different from the average female. 

5. Where do you see fetishfornails in 10 years? 

In 10 years I see myself owning my own salon here in Houston as well as Atlanta & Florida.

1. How did you get started with Bougie Bagz and how did you come up with the name? 

I've  made accessories for years (earrings,  necklaces etc) & I'm a crafterat heart and have been since I was a little girl. I love leather, calf hair and textiles. I decided I  wanted to try my hand  at making bags  so I  sat down at  my  sewing machine and made my 1st bag and Bougie Bagz was born.

I  came up with the name Bougie Bagz because I've been told for years that I  looked "Bougie ". Really what does bougie look like?  Being from new Orleans & living in Texas for 4 years at that time, just felt right and it brought the name to life. If I had to be sterotyped  as being "uppity/bougie" I  wanted to make pieces that reflected that,  so when you walk into the room everyone will notice you because  you have "eye catching pieces" that would cause whispers. 

2. What's your motto? And what does that mean to you? 

My motto is  Eclectic  pieces for Exotic people because we don't  follow trends we set 'em. It means everything to me because I've always been a  fashionista & always wanted to be different and stand out in a crowd. Therefore  I create custom  pieces that speak loudly without saying a word. 

3. Who are your customers?

My clientele  is that woman or man who dares to be different. Who is spicey enough to wear oieces that not onky represent their character  but will also make a fashion statement. All the while wearing pueces that are "Custom made" just for them. 

4. Where do you see this endeavor in 10 years? 

In 10 years,  I would love to have my brand which includes  accessories,  handbags & custom crystalized shoes featured in mainstream  retail boutiques & stores. I pride myself on making pieces that are affordable to the everyday person  as well as the  higher end person  who doesnt mind spending a little more to have a custom piece  there made especially for them. Most importantly  that no one else will have!!!

Stripes

We have been told kurvy thicker divas can't wear stripes. I call bullshit! Those who've said that definitely aren't rockin the stripes right. HMPH! By making some subtle changes stripes can be a kurvy girls best friend.  A thicker stripe is definitely more flattering.  Also breaking up the stripes with a chunky belt or a belt that pops with color will work as well. Watch me work the hell out of these stripes. 

Monday Mernin fabulousness

That's right ladies strut into the office feeling amazing!  Actually I feel like that green M&m lady. Today's outfit brought to you by Ross hunny. Shoes by shoe dazzle.  My ultimate accessory of the day is my lovely Hello Kitty purse. Sets my outfit off & displays the kid in me. 

Rocking Prints

Prints are beautiful!  Floral prints are definitely a big hit this summer. Whether your wearing a bold color popping print or living dangerously with an animal print this will definitely get them talking.  There's no rule book on kurvy girls wearing prints so here are my tips: 

1. Pair your solid color bottom with a great printed top 

2. Pair your printed bottom with a solid color top

3. Allover printed jumpsuit or dress

Let your outfit be the conversation piece and pair these suggestions with a solid color pair of shoes & handbag.
